Virginia Tiradentes Souto is an associate professor at the Design department, Art Institute, University of Brasilia – UnB, Brazil. She teaches in both the MA program in Design and in the MA-PhD program in Arts at UnB. She is also the editor of the journal Design, Tecnologia e Sociedade and the leader of the research group Information Design at UnB.
She holds a PhD (2006) and a Masters (1998) in Typography and Graphic Communication from the University of Reading, UK. She teaches in the Design department at UnB since 2006. She was the head of the MA program in Design at UnB from 2013 to 2017. Previously to teaching she has worked as a designer (from 1994), including at the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), and the National Education and Research Network (RNP), in Brazil.
